Knowledge of biodiversity is unevenly distributed across the Tree of Life. Over the long term, such disparities in awareness can distort our understanding of life on Earth, influencing policy decisions as well as the allocation of research and conservation funding. This lecture will examine the biases and idiosyncrasies of researchers studying biodiversity and explore ways to better portray biodiversity in both science and everyday life.
